SURRENDER

SURRENDER
Surrender is the most misunderstood word, for common man believes that Surrender is an act of cowardice, as it is most often related to defeat, but on the contrary Surrender comes with great courage. One has to give up one’s ego/ identity to let other person fully in charge of oneself. It comes with trust, faith and love/devotion for another. In love, it is quoted that one looses one’s heart to his beloved for he has given everything to him and he is totally dependent on the other person (emotionally) – it is Surrender in Love, in trust. Surrender is very intimate thing and can not happen to strangers. One can’t surrender to a person whom one does not trust or have faith. Similarly in any religion, a devotee is marked for his devotion which comes only with pure surrender in complete faith.
We are talking about surrender to a person for whom a person has immense love and faith. But what about surrender to a person for whom we lack these emotions, we have to inculcate compassion. For any situation which is not in our favour, we have difficulty in accepting the situation and we constantly fight with the situation in vain. There is a difference in overcoming the situation or coping with the situation. It is often said – Time will heal, this too shall pass- these kind of assurances are in accord with the concept of accepting the situation as it is and then let go, don’t have to hold any grudge against the situation as it will not help but create further chaos. In other words, its also a kind of Surrender to the situation and accept with strength and trust that this too shall pass. Surrender does not mean that we give up or don’t take any action but what is need of the situation is not to react but respond. Rather than being taken away by emotional senses, we should act responsibly.
