Nature of MIND
Clinging onto desires, running after them, however, once
achieved we have the tendency to find another wish to be pursued and the cycle
of catch and run continues incessantly.
Jumping from one pole to another without reaching anywhere-
cause it’s a vicious circle which never ends – like a whirlpool where one is
doomed.
But who is the one who is watching all these play of monkey
mind. Its our Higher Self, the spirit, the Atman, which witnesses all these and
when honored by the Jiva (Human) it keeps a vigil and its ordains the little
mind to realize its impulsive obsessions and set it right for no longer wasting
time and energy on similar foolish acts where the goal behind the act is not
getting fulfilled. It means, the very purpose of chasing those desires, to be
happy, in the act of doing so, we loose track of the real goal and end up
exhausted of all our energy and remain deprived of Happiness. The intelligent
mind will however start changing its mode once alerted by its inner voice (
conscience). It realizes that the standard of desires as wishes can be upgraded
by switching from temporary source of happiness to permanent resources. Like
instead of holding on to materialistic desires it may choose to go for holistic
wishes which brings calmness, peace, more soothing to soul fulfilling rather
than mindful/ physical wishes. Yes, there are primary needs to be attended to
and fulfilled but having a feverish attachment or obsessiveness of their possession
is going to mar the very purpose of pursuing these needs/ desires.
